Databases are simple to define with respect to their core job, which is to store and retrieve data efficiently. But still, they are arguably among the most complex software systems in existence.
I’m guessing I’m not the only one. It didn’t seem to be a beginner-friendly subject. The specific class wasn’t required. Any time storage systems were mentioned, they were on a higher level, very theoretical. There seems to be a common issue around CS graduates.
